Congratulations! Your child should now have solid phonemic awareness skills and is now ready to start learning to read! This module is actually not Phonemic Awareness but rather a bridge between Phonemic Awareness and Phonics. The games in this module will give your child a taste of working with letters to make and read real words. She will then swap various sounds within the words — first, middle, or last — to make new words. After completing our Phonological/Phonemic Awareness curriculum, your child knows the primary sounds made by all the letters of the alphabet, as well as the digraphs. She also knows how to pay attention to the individual sounds in a word and put them in the right order. As a result, your child can now read a large number of simple one-syllable words. ↑ Top2.
